At the launch ceremony of veterinary intervention guidelines, Ahmed Saad, FAO underscored the importance of the One Health approach, led by the Quadripartite, in uniting human, animal, and environmental health efforts to address complex global challenges. He emphasized that this integrated strategy is crucial for combating zoonotic diseases, 75% of which are transmitted from animals to humans.
Saad highlighted how One Health fosters collaboration among key international partners to develop coordinated, cross-sectoral policies that enhance global health resilience. He also pointed to FAO’s pivotal role in supporting Egypt through initiatives that improve veterinary infrastructure, strengthen disease surveillance, and promote food security. The event brought together prominent health and veterinary officials, including representatives from WHO and the Egyptian Health Council, also featured remarks from Deputy Agriculture Minister Mostafa el-Sayyad on Egypt’s notable achievements in aquaculture.
