- About tunisia
A Historic Crossroads of Culture and Innovation
Located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Sahara Desert, Tunisia is the northern gateway to Africa and a historic bridge between continents. Its capital, Tunis, pairs a UNESCO-listed Medina of winding souks and ninth-century mosques with a modern downtown of Cafés and startups. Heritage sites such as Carthage’s Roman port, the amphitheater of El Jem and the blue-and-white village of Sidi Bou Said lie within easy reach of the city.
Arabic is the official language and French is widely spoken. June weather is warm with an average high: 31°C (88°F), average Low: 19.5°C (67°F), and Tunis-Carthage International Airport sits just 15 minutes from the conference venue. Citizens of most European, North American, GCC and many African
countries can enter the country visa-free for up to 90 days—making Tunisia an accessible setting for the first MENA Region One Health Conference.
