In a significant milestone for public health, Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population, in collaboration with WHO Egypt, celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of the One Health Field Epidemiology Training Program – the first of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. This six-month initiative, which integrates intensive training with hands-on fieldwork, prepares participants to respond effectively to disease outbreaks and health emergencies.
Aligned with Egypt’s 2023 National One Health Strategic Framework, the program emphasized a collaborative approach across human, animal, and environmental health sectors. Key partners include the Ministries of Agriculture and Environment, the FAO, and other national health bodies. With future expansion into intermediate and advanced training levels, the initiatives strengthens Egypt’s capacity for health security and workforce development.
